April 29 : Fox Story #9 part one

Hello lovely blog-land! I'm feeling strange about posting fox stories that I've written a week prior, but I gotta say that not having the pressure of having to make art has allowed me to make more of it! When I know that I have a comic from the week before that I can share, it relieves me of the pressure I put on myself of having to make one, which means everyone wins: I'm making art and getting to share it with you. Happiness! TA DA!

For whatever reason I felt that I needed to explain this, so now that that's done I can share the first part of Fox Story #9!

Oooooh! I almost forgot to mention that you should also check out my AMAZING boyfriend's awesome new kayak video! (totally a different genre than these fox stories, eh?! - but still totally COOL!!!!) Check it out if you're interested: Whitewater Kayak Video

April 27 : Shower Curtain

I thought I should share my newest painted shower curtain. It is currently in the private collection of Ave Leslie, my present to him for his birthday. I love painting shower curtains, I just wish I had more places to hang them! Anyway, it's a sunny day out and I want a piece of pizza, so off I go. I promise that the next post will have a Fox Story, as I have some lined up and ready to share, but for now enjoy the shower curtain (even Fox makes an appearance on it)!!!!

April 23 : Fox Story #24 part two

Here's the second half to Ave's BIRTHDAY COMIC FOX STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a slight correction to note: it is Fox Story #24, NOT #25. There had been some confusion in my notes but after serious debate, multiple calculations and professional consulting (coughgmailchattingwithAve), we've decided that an error was made. Not that any of you are noticing the numbers....

BLAH! -- without further adieu, I bring you the second half of the initial birthday comic:

That's right folks, it was his BIRTHDAY!!!!! (Happy Birthday Ave!!!!!!) The following fox story was specifically for the big day of days - enjoy!

Part TWO comin' soooooooooon!

***correction! This is actually Fox Story #24, not #25!

April 19 : Fox Story #6 cont.

So, this is my FIRST official weekend off - never before have I had a 9-5 type job, M-F where I get every weekend off! All other jobs have been service-based and I ALWAYS had Saturdays ononon and BUSY! Weird.....!

My workplace has been redoing the office so I've been cleaning and organizing. I thought this was a fun image (thanks Denise!) of the bookshelf I was in charge of organizing -

And here's a full view shot of the whole shelf, though, we share an office space so the left side is for the other company, but the right side in all its glory was MEEEEE!!! Not sure how easy it'll be to find a book, unless they've memorized what architects always have a blue cover vs. what ones always have yellow, but, that's not the point...

Excited to have some time this weekend to make some more fox stories, but for now, enjoy Fox Story Numbah 6 part TWO!!!!!! And if you don't catch the Super Cafe Douche Bag Man reference, check out my other fox story AND my brother Woody's AMAZING comic featuring SCDBM - a MUST HAVE!!!!

April 14 : Fox Story #20 part 4

I have to share something.... I have Phil Collins' "Against All Odds" stuck in my head and I've been singing it, humming it, thinking it, NON STOP. I even blasted it and started out softly lying on the couch, singing along, little by little getting off the couch until that AMAZING DRUM PART starts when I JUMPED on the bed and then LEAPT OFF. I must perform this live on a huge stage with many beds I can jump on and then be able to repeat the whole performance again and again.

cough... Anyway... this is what a blog is for, right? Sharing these types of things for the world? ... I guess I'll stop there and post the last installment of Fox Story #20. And then I suggest you listen to Phil Collins and sing along... (Against All Odds)

April 12 : Fox Story #20 part 3

I've started slowing down my blog posts - my new job is starting SOON and I'll probably shoot for two posts a week, though we'll see how that schedule goes!! I've been squeezing in as much painting and drawing as I can before I get busy with other things -- bought some nice Malbec wine (a favorite!) and enjoyed the afternoon of painting yesterday:

For those of you familiar with my comic about Danny storing his whitewater kayak above our cabinets, you can juuuuuust make out his kayak on top of those cabinets (the upper left of the photo - it's a white boat so sort of blends in but does fully extend the width of our apartment - 2 inches away from the wall on the right, though you cant see that part in the photo.) Gee, looking at this photo makes me realize I better finish my painting soon cause those are some BLANK WALLS!!!!!

ANYWAY! We went to see a performance by my brother Woody tonight - SO GOOD!!!!! It's really fun to see him perform and have siblings that I get along with. I hope they think I'm even partly as cool as I think they are!  And speaking of siblings - here's the 3rd part of fox story #20 which has been held back for DAYS because of birthday comics and life events. I'll post the first 2 parts (which have already been posted on previous blog entries) so you can refresh the story if you need it, and then onto the new installment:

April 10 : Birthday Comic

Yesterday (MY BIRTHDAY!) was lovely. I got to walk all around the open art galleries in Chelsea as well as enjoy the AMAZING 80 degree sunny day along the not-too-crowded high line AND explore the delicious Chelsea Market. SCORE! I got back to my end of the city and had time to get my first iced coffee of the season while making a comic around the topic of BIRTHDAYS. I'm interested in doing more birthday-themed comics in the future, as there are many good stories to share - maybe after I've had my fill of FOX stories! But, for now, enjoy my birthday thoughts!

April 7 : Fox Story #20

Well, I didn't quite get to go to the MoCCA fest as I'd wanted to. I ended up being sick in bed ALL DAY Saturday - I'm talking full-on-sick-mode! Oy vey! I managed to sleep for 30 hours out of a total of 36! WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!? Insanity! So, I missed Saturday's festivities but I got myself out of bed to go today - really cool though I was such a zombie that I left after 3 hours. Maybe Fox is still sick cause he's in the waiting room of a doctor's office in this next comic, though clearly not thaaaat sick! Check it out:

April 5 : Fox Story #19

I finally bought some ink and paper for my printer and have been making BUSINESS CARDS this evening! WAHOOOOOO!!!!!! Now all those people who keep asking me what I'm up to while I'm drawing in coffee shops will have a way of finding me when they get home! boooooo yaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!! Plus, I'm headed to the MoCCA Arts Fest tomorrow and it won't hurt to have a couple handy incase I become BFF's with a cartoonist or two! Maybe I'll see some of you there!

Lucky for me, I'm ahead on my fox stories so this one is from a couple days back. Enjoy!

April 3 : Fox Story #13

I've been SICK all day - UGH! But good ol' Fox kept me company, even if it took me three times as long to make each panel! I should mention that Super Cafe Douche Bag Man appears in this comic - if you haven't heard of him, check out my brother's AMAZING comic book about this douche bag barista. http://onepageproductions.bigcartel.com/product/the-adventures-of-super-cafe-douche-bag-man Any person who has ever ordered a coffee at a coffee shop, has worked as a barista, is currently a barista, or knows a barista should get this comic. Spot on encounters and absolutely hilarious.

Luckily Fox doesn't care about who the barista is and tries his first cup of coffee anyway!

April 2 : Fox Story #14

My brother Ave (you know, the guy who wrote all these fox stories that I've been drawing) is currently at my parent's house where he re-discovered this beautiful old fox puppet (pictured on my parent's new crazy-looking dryer!) It was made by our dear friend Claire Fern's son, Arnold, many many years ago. Claire was an amazing person in my life - a lot like a third grandmother - and her husband, Eugene Fern, was a fabulous artist who wrote "Pepito's Story" (a great book, both the story and the artwork are awesome). Pepito is seen above, holding those fun yellow flowers. And while I'm sharing all about Claire Fern, it is she who Claire's Restaurant in Hardwick, VT is named after! Woah! Anyway, a bit of a tangent but the fox puppet is a very fun coincidence of sorts and a handsome puppet at that!

And now, for our FOX story! Readers, be warned! There is a little bit of fox nudity in this one, though it really is quite harmless.

April 1 : Fox Story #3

The news of the day is that I got a JOB! I'm very excited about it - I won't spill too much information at this point, but I'll say that it's at an architecture firm where I'll be a personal assistant/office manager/all-around-energetic-force! It'll start in a week or two, so I have some last moments to crank out a bunch of comics and enjoy sleeping in, and then onto a new adventure.  I got together with my brother Woody today and told him I'd buy us beers to celebrate -- luckily the first bar we came to had $1 pint specials!!!!! PHEW! And with all the excitement and fun, I was inspired to do an extra long fox story of the day -
ta daaaaaaa:
